| 3/11/2010 | Chad Ochocinco, WR (Cin) | Ochocinco, already involved in ABC show Dancing with the Stars, will star on a VH1 reality dating show. Analysis: Ochocinco said on his Twitter account that he expects to meet 85 women in an elimination-type show. |
| 3/11/2010 | Joe Klopfenstein, TE (Buf) | The Buffalo Bills have re-signed Klopfenstein a week after allowing him to become a free agent. Klopfenstein, who was re-signed on Thursday, was active for four games with Buffalo last season and had one catch for 11 yards. He's a four-year NFL veteran who initially signed with the Bills in November after Derek Fine sustained a season-ending knee injury. Analysis: Klopfenstein previously played three seasons with St. Louis before being released by the Rams in September. St. Louis selected him in the second round of the 2006 draft out of Colorado. He has 38 starts in 49 career games, and has 34 receptions for 397 yards and two touchdowns. |
| 3/11/2010 | Kevin Faulk, RB (NE) | Faulk didn't want to go out like Nomar Garciaparra. Watching the former All-Star Boston Red Sox shortstop retire on Wednesday helped convince Faulk that he wanted to spend his entire career with the Patriots. Faulk re-signed with the team that made him a second-round draft choice in 1999. Analysis: Faulk is the longest-tenured member of the Patriots. Along with Tom Brady, Matt Light and Stephen Neal, Faulk was a member of all three Patriots Super Bowl-winning teams. The 33-year-old Faulk ran for 335 yards and caught 37 passes for 301 yards and scored three touchdowns last season. |
| 3/11/2010 | Andy Alleman, G (Ind) | The Indianapolis Colts have signed free agent guard Alleman. The 6-foot-4, 310-pounder was New Orleans' third-round draft choice in 2007. He started four games in Miami in 2008, and started three games for Kansas City last season. Analysis: Alleman played college football at Akron. The signing announced Thursday comes three days after the Colts released Ryan Lilja, their starting left guard. |
| 3/11/2010 | Matt Moore, QB (Car) | Moore has signed his one-year, $3.043 million tender with the Carolina Panthers, who have declared him the starting quarterback going into training camp. Moore's agent, Lynn Lashbrook, says Moore preferred to sign the tender than test the free agency market. Thursday's move comes a week after the Panthers released longtime starter Jake Delhomme. Analysis: The 25-year-old Moore went 4-1 as a starter with eight touchdowns and two interceptions and a passer rating of 98.5 after Delhomme was sidelined with a broken finger at the end of last season. The Panthers placed the highest possible tender on Moore, meaning a team would have had to surrender first- and third-round draft picks to Carolina to sign the restricted free agent. |
| 3/11/2010 | Jerheme Urban, WR (KC) | The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired free agent wide receiver Urban, who spent the last three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. Kansas City announced the signing on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed. Analysis: The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Urban has 87 catches for 1,231 yards in a career that started in 2003 with the Seattle Seahawks. He has played in six postseason games, including the Super Bowl. His biggest year was 2008, when he had 34 catches for 448 yards and four touchdowns. Urban has played in 47 games with six starts. He was in Seattle from 2003-2005, spent part of the 2006 season on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad, then played for Arizona from 2007-2009. |
| 3/11/2010 | Vinny Ciurciu, LB (Det) | Detroit re-signed linebacker Vinny Ciurciu to a one-year contract Thursday. Analysis: Ciurciu helped out on special teams in nine games last season for the Lions. |
| 3/11/2010 | Jon Jansen, T (Det) | Detroit re-signed offensive tackle Jon Jansen to a one-year contract Thursday. Analysis: Jansen started twice and played in 11 games last season for the Lions. |
| 3/11/2010 | LaDainian Tomlinson, RB (SD) | Tomlinson has left the Minnesota Vikings facility without a deal in place and is on his way to New York to visit the Jets. A person with knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press that the star running back spent several hours at Vikings headquarters Thursday, but did not reach agreement on a contract. The person requested anonymity because negotiations were ongoing. Analysis: Tomlinson emerged from the meetings shortly after 5 p.m. CST clutching a purple Vikings jersey. But he did not comment before pulling away in a black limousine. The Vikings are interested in having Tomlinson take over for the departed Chester Taylor as the third-down back behind All-Pro Adrian Peterson. |
| 3/11/2010 | Tank Johnson, DT (Cin) | Johnson has signed a four-year deal to stay with the Cincinnati Bengals. Johnson started 13 games last season despite a case of plantar faciitis in his right foot that limited his mobility and caused a lot of pain. He felt better as the season went along, and tied for the team lead with 10 tackles in a playoff loss to the Jets. Analysis: Johnson, who has had legal troubles and suspension issues in the past, came to Cincinnati on a one-year deal from Dallas. The Bengals consider him an important part of their defensive line rotation and a reason why their run defense improved last season. Cincinnati finished fourth overall in defense last season, seventh against the run. |
| 3/11/2010 | Daniel Fells, TE (StL) | The St. Louis Rams have re-signed Fells, who caught three touchdown passes in 2009. Terms of this week's deal were not disclosed. Analysis: Fells was signed off of Tampa Bay's practice squad in October 2008 and emerged as an effective second tight end for St. Louis. He played in 14 games with four starts in 2009 before missing the final two games with a knee injury. Fells had 21 catches for 273 yards. Two of his touchdown catches came in a game against Green Bay. |
| 3/11/2010 | Mitch Erickson, G (Den) | The Denver Broncos have waived Erickson. Analysis: Erickson joined the club as an undrafted free agent out of South Dakota State in 2008 and spent two years on the Broncos' practice squad. |
| 3/11/2010 | Eddie Williams, TE (Chi) | Williams has signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. Drafted in the seventh round by Washington last year, he spent most of the season on the Redskins' practice squad before being elevated to the active roster Nov. 2. He was inactive for three games before being placed on injured reserve with a broken leg in late November. Analysis: The 6-foot-1, 249-pound Williams caught 100 passes for 1,205 yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons at Idaho, while carrying 19 times for 195 yards and three TDs. |
| 3/11/2010 | Antonio Bryant, WR (TB) | Bryant's agent said the receiver and the Cincinnati Bengals were ``very close'' to an agreement on Wednesday, a move that would likely preclude the addition of Terrell Owens. For the second year in a row, the Bengals are trying to find a complement for Chad Ochocinco, the only receiver with appreciable experience on the roster. Ochocinco has lobbied to get Owens, who was in town on Wednesday to meet team officials. Analysis: Bryant visited a day earlier and left without a deal in place. Agent Lamont Smith didn't return a phone call on Wednesday, but told the team's Web site that the sides were ``very close'' to a deal. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Bryant would get a four-year, $28 million contract. The 29-year-old receiver had career highs with 83 catches for 1,248 yards and seven touchdowns with Tampa Bay in 2008. |
| 3/11/2010 | Wade Smith, C (Hou) | Smith, an unrestricted free agent courted for his versatility, has agreed to terms with the Houston Texans, his Nashville-based agent, Brian Parker, confirmed. Smith's four-year deal includes $6.25 million in guaranteed money in the first year and averages about $3 million a season. Analysis: An eight-year veteran who started 16 games over the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith is expected to challenge for a starting job at guard or center with the Texans. He also was courted by the Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. |
| 3/11/2010 | Jeremy Clark, DT (Ari) | The Cardinals on Wednesday announced Clark has signed an exclusive rights contract with the team. Analysis: The Cardinals signed Clark on Jan. 5. He was inactive for both postseason games. |
| 3/11/2010 | Kevin Faulk, RB (NE) | The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with running back Kevin Faulk. The versatile 11-year veteran has spent his entire career with the Patriots, helping them win three Super Bowls. He was an unrestricted free agent, but the team announced Wednesday night on its Twitter page that he would be returning. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Analysis: The 33-year-old Faulk ran for 335 yards and caught 37 passes for 301 yards and scored three touchdowns last season. Faulk has 3,505 yards rushing and 418 receptions for 3,605 yards in his career and has also been a steady contributor returning kicks and punts. |
| 3/11/2010 | Willie Colon, T (Pit) | Colon was with teammate Ben Roethlisberger on the night the quarterback was accused of sexual assault in a Georgia club, but did not witness anything, Colon's agent says. Analysis: Colon was at the Capital City nightclub in Milledgeville, Ga., last Friday, for a birthday party for Roethlisberger. But Joe Linta, Colon's agent, said by phone Wednesday that Colon was on the dance floor and not close by when Roethlisberger allegedly sexually assaulted a 20-year-old college student. Linta said Colon ``had no knowledge of the incident'' until he was questioned by authorities while leaving the club that night. |
| 3/11/2010 | Sean Ryan, TE (Was) | Ryan has signed with the Washington Redskins. Ryan caught 14 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs last season. Analysis: Ryan has 26 catches for 240 yards and those two TDs in six NFL seasons with six teams. The 6-foot-5 Ryan turns 30 on March 27. |
| 3/11/2010 | Jake Delhomme, QB (Car) | Delhomme, released last week by Carolina, is visiting the Cleveland Browns. Agent Rick Smith said Thursday that Delhomme is at Cleveland's team headquarters in Berea, Ohio. The Browns have been shopping for a quarterback, and earlier this week acquired backup Seneca Wallace in a trade and released Derek Anderson. Agent Rick Smith would not comment on Delhomme's visit to Cleveland. Analysis: Delhomme went 58-40 in seven seasons as the Panthers' starter and led them to one Super Bowl appearance. He was cut as the Panthers trimmed salary - Delhomme is still owed $12.5 million - and so they could promote Matt Moore to starter. Delhomme is coming off his worst season, throwing a career-high 18 interceptions. He broke down in tears last week as he said goodbye to the Panthers and their fans. |
